I can't believe I have not posted anything for over 6 months!

Life took over and I was really busy with work and the store and the kids...pure craziness! But one of my new year resolutions is to start blogging again, I have so much to say!
I am also back on the WW (Weight Watchers) wagon! Starting again, I have to loose 100 lbs to be at my ideal weight, seems impossible to attain, but I have to give myself some small goals and take it one step at a time, what is important is that I am doing it again!

You will see more of me, I promise! (less pounds I hope!) and will update you on my Scrapbooking and Weight Loss Journeys...

Some Layouts to Share

As some of you know my son had back surgery last Wednesday and this last weekend I stayed home all weekend taking care of him and getting some scrappin' done!
I love sketches and love to search different sites and play with them! I used the Basic Grey Page of the Month kits for May and June, I made the page of the month and several additional layouts with the left overs, there is always so much product left over!
This first two page layout is the the sample layout that came with the May page of the month kit, using the Sweet Threads Collection.

This is my daughter Gaby on Easter, she is such a girly girl that loves to pose for the camera!

And with the left overs, I completed another 2 page layout plus 2 more single layouts and I still have leftovers!

My daugher's birthday party when she turned 4 was a Hawaiian theme party, everyone dressed up, she loved wearing her outfit!
I used the Sketch# 53 from Sketch Savy a sketch blog, they have great sketches!

~Serendipity
We were in Las Vegas and I almost died when I saw a Serendipity Restaurant! If you ever watched the movie or being to New York you would know that they have the BEST frozen chocolate EVER! This is a place that should be on everyone's list, as you can see my kids enjoyed so much our visit to Serendipity, by the way is just outside of Cesar's Palace!

Hello everyone!

I have created a new layout using a sketch from the wonderful sketch site Creative Scrappers, they have awesome sketches! I used sketch #157 to create this page of our trip to Sedona. I used the collection "100 days of Summer" from Simple Stories/Memory Works and this is actually my front page, I actually created our entire vacation album in one day! Using the refill pages from We R Memory Keepers and the Simple Stories system I was able to create about 20 pages in one night! I will be sharing those pages once I finish journaling and embellishing my pages, so easy, so simple but gorgeous!

Playing this weekend

Working at the store all weekend allowed me to play! I have been getting tons of new product and I wanted to make some samples for the store. We have received so gorgeous lines! We got last week 3 collections from Memory Works including "100 days of Summer". The entire line lasted less than 10 days, I just reordered the entire collection, I figure it is not even summer yet and it is almost gone!

New Twig Line at the store!

Don't you think this line is beautiful? I just got this line at the store and I love it! I have created I believe 5 layouts but I will show you the first 3, I have not had a chance to take pictures of the other 2...

I am so happy that I finally have time to scrapbook! The last six months have been a wild ride, but we are so blessed with all the new people we have met,the success of the store...and I am loving it!

Here is some of my recent layouts:

This one I created with the left over paper of the January page of the month kit from Basic Grey, I found a picture of my mother when she was about my age and then I found a picture of me almost posing exactly the same way! I am like her in so many ways and at times a catch myself doing some of her manerisms, even talking like her...I miss her so much!

This next one is also using the left overs from the same kit, when I like a collection, I am very frugal and use it to the last tiny piece of scrap, this one is the Galvez Family at Christmas time! It is always such a joy to spend Christmas with them,I am blessed to have this great family!

This next one is the real page of the month layout, I picked pictures of me and my daughter.

I got to go to bed, I will post some more tomorrow or this weekend!

March Reveals - Hello Sunshine Kit

I am finally able to scrap after quite of few months of pure craziness, been extremely busy with the store opening. I love both kits this month but the Hello Sunshine is my favorite, beautiful colors, very pretty spring line. Some people might find difficult to use this line for themes other than a girly girl, but I am here to show you how you can use this line with pretty much any pictures. Most of my reveals are boy pages and here is what I did:

~ So cute
Here is my 15 year old son, he came out in a Quinceanera which is like a Sweet 16 party but is when the girl turns 15. I used a Valerie Salmon sketch from Got Sketch? Is he cute or what?

~ Party Time
Here is my son again with his best friend ready to leave for the party, I enjoyed a hug from him too! I used a lovely sketch from Creative Scrappers, Sketch #142 designed by Amarilys Doria.

Here is a layout using Family pictures from different occasions this last year, I used the March 20th sketch challenge sketch from Page Maps

July Kit - Homespun - Full Reveal!

Hello Everyone!

A little early posting my work, I just couldn't wait until tomorrow; I am so excited to show you what I have done with this FABULOUS Kit! If you did not pick this one, you are missing out!
I still have about 5 or 6 left...
Most of my samples are using old pictures of my mom...My mom passed away two years ago on my birthday, she had Alzheimer's and died at the age of 72...still young now in days...
A very difficult time in my life and until now, I had not seen pictures of her or done any scrapbooking other than this picture I did shortly after her passing...

Anyway, working with this kit and her pictures has been such a rollercoaster of emotions for me,some days I was fine and happy to remember, other days I scrapped and I cried…
I enjoyed this kit so much…I hope you enjoy my work this month and the stories behind the pictures!

My mom was the oldest of 9 kids living in a small town in Mexico; she moved to the big city at the
age of 15 and eventually moved all her siblings and mother. My Mom worked very hard to make this happen; she was a maid, a waitress and endured many struggles. This is a picture of her walking the streets of Mexico City at 16 or 17 years of age. Check out her dress!

Have you ever try to start a diet or exercise plan and all you think about is all the reasons why you "can't"??
Well I have decided to go back to Weight Watchers...again and to do this for real!
It is not about looks anymore, I want to "feel" better, I am 41 years old but feel like I am 60! I have back pains, knee pain, feet pain, you name it! I am done, done, done.
I am pretty good with my food (most of the time) but this time around, I really need to focus on the exercise and stop the "I am too busy" "I do not have time" "I am too tired", I am done with that too!
So wish me luck on this journey that I know is going to be long,and it is going to be painful...

What can I say about this kit, LOVE the birds! The combination of colors is awesome! You can't really appreciate it in the pictures but let me tell you in person this kit is gorgeous!! You will get a really cute mini album from Basic Gey, a mini bottle of Glimmer Mist, te cutest alphabet thickers, the font and the size are perfect! The transparency sheet and the chipboard pieces are really cool! You are going to love, love this kit!

Weekly Gratitude - Week 8 - 11

No surprise to you all I am behind again! I think about the things I am grateful for often and I always have the intention of posting it on this blog....
So I have to update the last three weeks...so much has happened

Week - 8
I am so happy that I can use this wonderful device called IPOD, I grew up in the 80's and listening to cassette players and track albums! It is unbelievable the technology this days, I can post on facebook, look up my Weight Watcher points,listen to music, check a You tube video, check the weather, check my email, look at my photo album...all in a matter of minutes and with a touch of a finger! who knew!
So I am grateful for technology and that little device called IPOD touch!

Week - 9
If you would have told me 5 years ago that I was going to have a little girl, I would not have believed you! Although I always wanted a girl, during each pregnancy I just knew it was another boy, so after 3 boys I was done, done, done! And then 6 years after my last son, the miracle happened, the unexpected happened, I was pregnant, I had been taking the pill and I was pregnant! And when we found out this time we were having a girl, it was truly the happiest day of my life! I was so happy and grateful for Miracles! this was truly a miracle! So this week as I see my precious daughter playing I am soo grateful for her, for the 99% accuracy of the pill and for the miracle of life!

Week 10
I really hate when the time changes in October, when the days are shorter and the nights are longer, traffic sucks, the days seem so short, Winter is just not for me! But when March comes around and its time to change the clocks again now that I LOVE! Days are longer, its a sign of Spring! I enjoy time with my family more, spending time outside the house,watching them play on the front yard, traffic is so much better, I can actually get home during day light, so this week I am grateful for the time change! I love it!

Week 11
This week my husband was admitted to the hospital with Appendicitis, had surgery last Monday and stayed at the hospital until Thursday, it has been tough on him, definately he is getting old (don't tell him I said that ;0)) but I am so grateful that we have health insurance and he was able to get this surgery done on time and without any complications. So this week I really have a better appreciation for Health Insurance!

I am catching up I am catching up! I am only a few days behind...
Sometimes we take for granted the simple pleasures in life...this week for me was coffee, I love coffee! And I never thought about the "What about if I was not able to have my morning cup of coffee with Hazelnut Creamer or my weekend treat, the delicious Starbucks White Mocha?"
So this week, I appreciate coffee and the joy it brings to my day!

Friday was my Birthday and I decided to pamper myself! I went to a wonderful place called Burke Williams and I had a body wrap, a relaxation massage with hot stones and a facial and all I could think while I was there is that I am so Thankful for massages! And I am thankful that I can afford them! It was such a wonderful and peaceful experience!
A bittersweet day since it is my Mom's anniversary too, she passed away 2 years ago on my Birthday...My Birthday will never be the same and I miss her sooo much!

I got behind again! Hey at least I am not completely forgetting to do this! There is just sooo much going on!
For Week 5 - I am grateful that I met Teresa Collins! She is such a beautiful person inside and out. I am grateful for her and for her blog, it is such an inspiration, I sit every night at my computer and it is the last thing I do before going to bed, read her blog. It just makes me feel so good, you can feel the love, the faith, the joy in life and the goodness she projects through her blog! I sleep in peace and feeling grateful! Thanks Teresa! You are an inspiration!

Weekly Gratitude - Week 3 and 4

Ok I am a little behind due to CHA crazyness and a short vacation I took, but I made a note of my week 3 and 4 Gratitude topics.

On Week 3 - I felt really grateful for the husband I have! Honestly, he is the BEST husband in the world! He is so supportive of my hobby and business that he does laundry, cooks and cleans house while I put kits together! Isn't he awesome?? So getting so close to CHA, all I can think of is that there is nothing to worry about at home because HE is in charge :0)

On Week 4 - I am grateful for scrapbooking! I really am! I can not think of what I really did with my time before, isn't that crazy?? I just know now that I LOVE this hobby and it has brought me so much joy and so many great experiences! I have made so many friends along the way and I still do! I am grateful for Teresa Collins, she inspires me every day! Here are some pictures from CHA, with some awesome ladies, Teresa Collins, Greta Hammond (I am her #1 fan!), Elizabeth Katchner, Layle Koncar and Kelly Goree, I love you ladies!

As we start a new year/ a new decade I am grateful for my Family, they are everything to me and I just think about all those people that are alone in the world and it makes me sad, I can not imagine my life without my husband and my 4 kids, my sister and my niece and even my crazy dogs! I will be using this picture and I will share my page with you once I complete it...

My reveal with Urban Ink kit

What is a friend?

Until now, I really had a totally different perspective on what a friend was, to me a friend had to be a person you knew for a while, someone who you had constant contact, knew about you and you knew about them, you had some sort of a relationship...well, I still believe that, but, now I also believe on immediate connection…humble, heartfelt, sincere connection...

Let me tell you why...

I went to Inspiration Unlimited in Vegas! This is a scrapbooking event, (my first ever) and it was more, much more than a Scrapbook event, believe it or not, I met some awesome people, famous people, that I now consider my friends. Teresa Collins, Janna Wilson, Layle Koncar, Stephanie Ackerman, Tammy Mitchell, Ginger Nelson are the sweetest, nicest, caring people, it is so hard to explain but the minute I got there I felt so welcomed (I went by myself), their workshops were amazing! But there was more than just work, we talked, we laughed, we cried (Thanks Teresa!) It was an Inspiration!

Here are some pictures of the event, I had a great time and I will be there next year! I am sure I will be making more new friends!

GENERAL INFORMATION: The existing SD4U Design Team is looking for 3 creative, outgoing, talented fresh faces to inspire our members and join our team, and will be accepting submissions through February 15, 2009. The new designers will be announced once they have been contacted and have accepted their positions. The design team position will be a 6 month commitment. We keep our Design Team Members busy with lots of activities, such as designing with monthly kits, blog posts, message board activities, online crops, etc., so please consider the amount of time that will be required to fulfill your DT requirements when deciding to apply. Also, SD4U asks that you are not a design team member for more than 1 other kit club due to the amount of time required to fulfill your position appropriately. Also, we ask that you are remain respectful of our business by not posting about other clubs or online stores on our message board or in your comments. DESIGNER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to): •Promoting SD4U whenever possible. •Posting the SD4U blinkie and link on your personal blog. •Posting photos of our monthly kits, along with samples of your work on your personal blog each month with a link back to either the store, or the messageboard. SD4U will in turn post a link to your blog on our site’s blog. •Consistent daily participation on our message board. •Designing at least five items per kit: 3-5 layouts or combination of layouts, altered items and cards. •Actively participate in a monthly newsletter and blog posts. We do a rotation with a calendar posted each month. It is your responsibility to check that calendar and follow up with your assignment. •Actively participate in challenges and organize contests. OUR DESIGNERS RECEIVE: •A free kit every month containing the industry's latest and greatest products! •30% Product discounts for anything else in the store! •Miscellaneous perks - free passes to CHA, special discounts, etc.! •We have some exciting plans for 2009 which will bring a lot of exposure to SD4U and consequently, to our designers. •Designers term is for 6 months. At the end of the term we will re-assess where the team is and go from there. IF YOU'RE INTERESTED: •Email 5 of your best layouts and/or altered projects to info@scrapbookdeals4u.com •Please include the following in your email: 1. Name, mailing address, phone number 2. Links to other online galleries that show your work (as well as your screen name) 3. Link to your blog, if you have one. 4. A short bio of yourself including other DT's you have been on (or are currently on) and your current activity on any forums and messageboards. 5. As previously stated, photos of 5 layouts and/or altered projects that you feel best represent your style. Layouts can be 12x12 or 8 1/2 X 11.

What a concept! I was reading blogs last night and as I was reading Stacey Julian's, an icon cought my attention...

so I clicked on it and it took me to this "Operation Nice" blog and I just LOVE her concept! This is what it says... "Don't you love it when people go out of their way to be nice? Like when someone waits to hold the door for you. Or when a stranger waves you into a line a traffic. Or even when a coworker shoots you a friendly smile along with a "have a nice day." If everyone was a little bit nicer to the folks they encountered each day, perhaps the world would be a more pleasant place. Operation NICE was initiated to remind you that a little NICE goes a long way" So I decided to support this operation and...BE NICE!

Summer Scrapfest 2008

Announcing Summer Scrapfest! Summertime means longer days, hot weather, and tourists galore. All great reasons to stay in and take advantage of the extra daylight and scrap away rather than chance a painful sunburn or fight traffic in the sweltering heat! At SD4U, we plan on scrappin all summer long, and hope you’ll join us! If you need a little more incentive than that, how about a big, fat, 6-week long contest? SD4U has 3 Guest Design Team positions to give away, and by playing along with our Summer Scrapfest, one of those Guest Design Team Members could be YOU. The contest will be based on an accumulated points system, NOT an elimination process, and here’s how it will work: Each week you will be challenged by a different Design Team Member to complete assignments that will earn you a certain amount of points. A new layout challenge will be posted each Monday, and several mini-challenges for extra bonus points will be posted at random throughout the rest of the week. Each time you complete a challenge correctly in the amount of time specified, you will be awarded the number of points for that challenge. We will keep a thread with a running tally, so that you will always know where you stand, and who may be ahead of you and by how many points. And…the best thing about this Contest and Scrapfest is…EVERYBODY WINS! Depending on the amount of points you’ve accumulated throughout the contest, you will receive at least a 10% of your entire purchase in the SD4U store! As you accumulate more points, you’ll also accumulate a bigger and bigger discount, possibly up to 30% by the end of the contest! Summer Scrapfest will begin on Monday, June 16th and we hope to have every registered member playing along!!

Going Through the Weight Loss Battle

This battle continues...I lost 75 lbs 5 years ago and got pregnant, gain most of the weight back. I wish I could be as faithful as I was before...I have lost my mojo and I don't know how to find it. It is so hard to lose weight, so hard! I don't feel that I want to go through all the sacrifices and effort I put on this before. I have soo much on my plate right now...but I know I need to do this, I know I need, have to lose the weight.
